The Sinking City 2 endings wiki entry is short, because the game has exactly one ending. Where the 2019 original offered three finales and left them all uncanonised, the sequel runs a single conclusion with no branching dialogue and no moral choice, and the safe codes and investigations sit outside it entirely.

Endings at a glance

The two games differ on almost every structural point, which is the fastest way to explain the sequel to anyone who played the first. The table below sets the two side by side using the published ending breakdown.

The single ending step by step

The story closes on a revealed memory and a bargain. Wikipedia's plot summary and the ending guides agree on the sequence: the pair learn that Calvin died during the original Ritual of Dreaming, Faye traded her soul to Yog-Sothoth to revive him, and the god placed both spirits in Calvin's body to sustain him.

At the altar, restoring Faye properly would undo that trade and kill Calvin. Instead, facing Yog-Sothoth in the Antarctic temple after killing the Slither Prime, Calvin offers a body and a life together in exchange for opening the way. Faye says I do, the portal opens, and the god descends and swallows Arkham while both become its vessels.

The Mi-Go in the hospital is part of the same design rather than a separate villain: it stops attacking once it reads that Faye is a Dreamer, and calls itself a herald of the Timeless Dawn. That is the clue that the creatures were guiding the pair rather than blocking them.

Common misreads and the safe code list

The most repeated misunderstanding is that the investigations work like the first game's case system and can save the city. They cannot, and the safe codes are the clearest example: they are optional locks worth loot and trophies, not choices.

  • Misread: a good ending exists. It does not.
  • Misread: Ex Oblivione is a second ending. It is eight documents.
  • Misread: the couple saves Arkham. They open the door for the god.
  • Misread: the grey skin is harmless. Worms enter the body and the god takes them.

The safe codes themselves are 1908 for the Apartment 5 safe, 2137 for the hotel safe, 1308 for the hospital storage lock and 1672 for the church watergate, with symbol locks at the obelisk and the Fish Market locker. For the systems behind them, see the guide, and for the full walkthrough order see the walkthrough.

FAQ

1.How many endings are in The Sinking City 2?

Exactly one. Wikipedia summarises the plot as a single conclusion in which the pair open the portal, and the ending guides confirm there are no branches or moral choices that alter it.

2.Who is the final antagonist?

Yog-Sothoth, an Outer God from Lovecraft's mythos. Its servants, the Slither Prime and the Mi-Go, herd Calvin and Faye toward its Antarctic temple so that Faye, as a Dreamer, can complete the rite.

3.What is Ex Oblivione?

It is the New Game Plus mode unlocked after the story. It adds eight Codex documents called the Oblivion Writings, which are collectibles rather than an alternate ending.

4.Does the safe code hunt change the story?

No. The safe codes 1908, 2137, 1308 and 1672 and the eight side investigations award loot, lore and trophies, but the finale is identical whether you complete them or not.

5.Is the ending canon with the first game?

It is a standalone story. Wikipedia and the ending guides both state the sequel shares only the Arkham setting with the 2019 game, and the first game deliberately has no canonical ending.
