The Sinking City 2 does not have a good ending. It has one fixed ending, and no amount of investigation work or safe code hunting changes it. That is the single most important difference from the 2019 original, which let Charles Reed walk into three separate finales, and it is the source of most of the questions players ask after the credits.

Is there a good ending?

There is not, and the structure rules one out. The Main Gamers ending breakdown states plainly that the sequel has no moral options or dialogue branches that change the finale, and that accusing the wrong suspect only alters later dialogue. The common misread is that the investigations work like the first game's case resolutions; they do not.

What the one ending actually does

The finale is a bargain rather than a choice. The sealed memory reveals that Calvin died during the original Ritual of Dreaming and Faye offered her soul to Yog-Sothoth to bring him back, which left her body empty and her spirit trapped behind the Night Shade mask. Finishing the resurrection rite properly would undo that trade and kill him.

Facing Yog-Sothoth, Calvin offers a different deal: a physical body and a life together, in exchange for what the god needs. Faye objects that there are still people in the city, and Calvin answers that anyone still there has made their choice. Faye says I do, the deal is struck, and Arkham is swallowed.

Safe codes, side content and what is actually optional

The safe codes sit entirely outside the ending. Opening 1908, 2137, 1308 or 1672 gives you weapons, ammo and Dream Essence, and completing the eight side investigations adds lore and trophy progress, but none of it branches the story. That is worth knowing before you replay an area hoping for a different outcome.

  • Side investigations reward loot, lore and trophies, not alternate endings.
  • Safe codes gate upgrade currency and one weapon upgrade path.
  • The Holloway Manor side story adds context but not a separate finale.
  • New Game Plus adds eight Codex documents for the From Oblivion trophy.

FAQ

1.Is there a good ending in The Sinking City 2?

No. There is one main ending and no moral choices or dialogue branches that change it, unlike the first game's three-way choice. Opening the right safe codes changes your loot, not the finale.

2.Can investigations change the ending?

They cannot. Accusing the wrong suspect only changes later dialogue, and the plot continues the same way regardless of which side investigations you complete.

3.What happens in the ending?

Calvin and Faye accept Yog-Sothoth's bargain, Faye's body is restored, and Arkham is swallowed. Both become vessels of the god, and the final shot shows them grey and smiling as the city collapses.

4.Is Ex Oblivione a second ending?

No. Ex Oblivione is the New Game Plus mode, and the eight documents it adds are Codex pages rather than an alternate finale. The main ending plays the same way.

5.Why did Calvin and Faye make the deal?

The sealed memory reveals that Calvin died during the original Ritual of Dreaming and Faye traded her soul to bring him back. Completing that bargain again would kill him, so the pair make a second trade instead.
