The Sinking City 2 has one ending. Unlike the 2019 original, which gave Charles Reed three finales and no canon, the sequel runs a single fixed conclusion with no moral choices and no dialogue branches that change it. The safe codes and side investigations give you loot and trophies, but the story ends the same way every time.
How many endings does it have
One, and the comparison table the ending guides publish makes the difference clear. The first game offered three endings where none was canon; this one offers a single ending, no choices that alter it, and New Game Plus documents after the credits rather than an alternate finale.
| The Sinking City (2019) | The Sinking City 2 | |
|---|---|---|
| Endings | Three, none canon | One |
| Choices change it | Yes | No |
| After the credits | Nothing equivalent | Eight New Game Plus documents |
| Safe codes matter | No | No, loot only |
The single ending explained
The finale rests on a sealed memory. During the original Ritual of Dreaming, Calvin died and Faye traded her soul to Yog-Sothoth to bring him back, which left her body in a coma and her spirit speaking through the Night Shade mask. Completing the resurrection rite properly would undo that trade and kill him.
Facing the god, Calvin offers a new deal: a physical body and a life together, in exchange for what Yog-Sothoth needs. Faye objects that people remain in the city; Calvin answers that anyone still there has made their choice. She says I do, the portal opens, and Arkham is swallowed while both of them become vessels.

Ex Oblivione is not a second ending
The post-credits content is a New Game Plus mode, not an ending branch. The Main Gamers breakdown is explicit that Ex Oblivione after the credits is eight New Game Plus Codex pages rather than a second ending, and the trophy guide treats those pages as the From Oblivion collectible set.
- The mode unlocks after finishing the story on any difficulty.
- Only Talent points carry over between runs.
- The eight documents add lore about the expedition and the flood.
- The safe codes and investigations remain optional and unrelated to the finale.
The community discussion around the ending mostly debates whether the pair were duped or chose knowingly, and the honest answer from the published material is that the god never forces them: it uses how far they will go for each other. FAQ
1.How many endings does The Sinking City 2 have?
One. The first game gave Charles Reed three endings with no canon, but the sequel has a single fixed finale with no moral choices or branching dialogue that changes it.
2.What happens at the end?
Calvin and Faye make a bargain with Yog-Sothoth: a body and a life together in exchange for opening the way. Faye is restored, the god descends, and Arkham is swallowed while both become vessels.
3.Is there a secret ending?
No. Ex Oblivione is the New Game Plus mode, and its eight documents are Codex pages that add lore and a trophy rather than a second ending.
4.Do the safe codes affect the ending?
They do not. The safe codes 1908, 2137, 1308 and 1672 unlock loot and investigation trophies, and the story plays out identically whether you open every safe or none.
5.Do I need to play the first game to understand the ending?
No. The sequel is a standalone storyline with a new protagonist and cast, sharing only the Arkham setting. The first game's endings are explicitly not required reading.
